AMAZING !!!, CROWDS OF PEOPLE WATCHED AS FUNKTION RIPPED UP THE STAGE AT THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS SHOW !!!
We hope you all had a chance to come out with the beautiful people and witness the performance by Funktion. The band played two scorching sets for thousands of fans on Sunday at Verizon Ampitheatre. The performance was absolutley flawless,The night could not have been any more exciting, Crowds gathered as the band began the first set with the crowd amping song 'Move Somethin' which was a magical blend of strong beats and music with sounds that could be described as being influenced by Outkast and Rage Against The Machine. The band had fans feeling the groove with the powerful drumming of Walter Earl, and the Rhythmic bass playing of crowd favorite Steve Vandemon.
For the second song, Funktion guitarist Mike Lopez, known onstage as Spaceboy, dropped in with a powered up version of 'Jump, Jump' on overdrive. This pace continued the level of energy and brought more and more people to the stage. Funktions lead vocalist, Devin Baird, also known as Madlove, called out to the crowd, The energy kept building as more and more people heard the incredible sounds coming from the stage.
The Mix was perfect, Solid sharp beats, Monsterous basslines, Crunching guitar and amazing melodies on sing along hooks. The set continued with 'One Mans Trash' , 'Let it all go' and an incredible new song titled 'Fallin', Mark my words, This song is a hit record waiting for distribution. Funktion grabbed the attention of the masses and would not let go. The crowd watched and enjoyed the entire set. Funktion ended with 'she Got' and a amazing version of 'Hollywood Daze' that started with a beautiful acoustic intro and some soulful vocals. Funktion's version of 'Hollywood Daze' brought the Glitter and Grime of Los Angeles out to the crowds at Verizon. When the band broke into the song at full power the crowd was electric. It was a sea of heads bobbing and grooving, mouths singing along, Prooving once again that Funktion is one of the most original and talented new acts performing today.
The second set that Funktion performed was after Mike Watt and before the Flaming lips. This was also a blistering success. Funktion topped their own performance the second time around. The band finished the set and was honored to have hundreds of new fans that received CD's and other merchandise seeking to meet the band. Funktion did a brief meet and greet to sign CD's, shirts and exchange contact information with fans, sponsors and Industry people. The Funktion street team was also promoting for the upcoming El Rye show.
The entire day was a great success, Funktion and their friends were then escorted to the front of the stage to watch the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform an incredible set. Funktion would like to thank Clear Channel, Verizon Wireless amphitheater, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the die hard Funktion family of stage hands, techs, street teams and all the people that help to make these incredible shows possible. Funktion released a new CD titled the " Green EP" on Sat. Sept. 6th at the El Rey. The "Green EP" has six hot tracks on it featuring "Move Something", "Hollywood Daze", and "She Got".
